I am trying to open a drawing from 1994 with DataCAD 22 and get a compression error 106. I believe the original drawing was a .DC3 or .DC5 file format. I also have other drawings from the time. I have copied the files to a CDR disk and to my computer from a 3" floppy disk and still get the same error message. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

May be a simplistic answer, but have you checked to make sure the file isn't 'Read Only'?

The next best option would be to send it to Dcad LLC to see if they can find what the problem is. Another avenue may be to email a file to one of us on the forum to see if we can duplicate the error

Glad you found the culprit - and hopefully didn't wreak too much havoc for you!

If anyone has anything else of value stored on old floppies, CD-R, CD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R or other older media that is not archive lifespan rated, I would get it off of those old mediums ASAP and brace yourself for loss of data that has most likely occurred.

Unfortunately that's too true. Still have some 3.5" discs, CD's and DVD's and readers, but I think I have everything (or most) saved to a hard drive and the cloud.
